Nueces County Commissioners approved a three-year Proofpoint Advanced Threat Protection subscription through Insight Public Sector under the Omnia Partners cooperative contract 236692-3 to replace the county's existing Mimecast system.
IT staff told the court the platform includes an embedded cybersecurity module and training and that consolidating services should provide both improved protection and cost savings. "This is a very robust application that runs behind the scenes to check everything that's happening with emails and give us reports that we can look at on a regular basis," an IT staff member said.
Commissioners discussed annual cost estimates; staff stated the recurring cost is roughly $68,000 per year for the three-year subscription. The court approved the purchase and authorized staff to proceed under the cooperative contract.
The county will retire duplicate services and integrate the cybersecurity module with existing IT operations; staff said training will accompany the subscription to raise department awareness and protection levels.
No opposition was recorded and the motion to approve passed unanimously.
