Commissioners table TAC/CIRA website migration amid budget concerns

Mills County Commissioners on Feb. 9 heard a presentation from Jason Brown of TAC about a proposed TAC/CIRA website migration intended to achieve Department of Justice ADA compliance for county websites. Brown said counties larger than 50,000 must meet the DOJ ruling by next April, and TAC offered a migration that includes an audit, template options, staff training and a one‑time migration fee with an option to spread payments over two years for smaller counties.
Commissioners raised budget concerns, noting the migration and related fees were not included in the current budget cycle. Jason Brown said the vendor would audit the site, perform the migration (with a freeze period) and train staff so future updates remain compliant; he described the annual hosting fee as approximately $95.50 going forward and said migration can be scheduled within the next two years.
After discussion about timing and budget planning, Commissioner (speaker 6) moved to table the TAC/CIRA services agreement to allow the county to consider the migration during the next budget cycle; Commissioner Head seconded the motion and the court voted to table the item for a later date. Jason Brown offered to meet with county staff to walk through audit results and training options.
The court recorded no final procurement action and instructed staff to include the migration cost in next year’s budget discussions.
