"In that upgrade, it broke our current VPN configuration," Staff member (S4) said, describing the issue that required reworking VPN setups for four offices and which the presenter estimated would take much of a day to resolve. S4 said the firewall technology previously in use had been phased out and that the work includes creating a more secure VPN configuration and exporting settings where possible to reduce repetitive tasks.
S4 also said the county is installing phone systems across departments and lacks storage for about 300 decommissioned phones; the presenter proposed scheduling a county phone-recycle day to consolidate and dispose of old equipment.
