Board asks VDOT for speed study at Lakewood Road/Route 340 intersection

Staff noted that by Virginia law a speed limit change requires a proper speed study.
After discussion about timing and likely approaches, a supervisor moved that the board approve the request for a VDOT speed study; the motion was seconded and passed. Staff said they would coordinate with VDOT and copy county staff and local contacts on the request.
Board members stressed the speed study as the first step and noted additional safety or funding work could follow the study’s findings.
