The board set a public hearing for Feb. 24, 2026 on a special‑use permit request allowing a secondhand retail store (Play It Again Sports) at 2849 Bartlett Boulevard in the CG‑MS zoning district; planning staff said the commission recommended approval with a stipulation that 60% of merchandise be new.
The board set a public hearing for Feb. 24, 2026 on Resolution O4‑26, a request from the owner of Play It Again Sports to open a secondhand retail store at 2849 Bartlett Boulevard in the CG‑MS (general business with main street overlay) zoning district.
Miss Koehler, director of planning and economic development, said the application was reviewed by the Planning Commission on Jan. 5, 2026 and came forward with a favorable recommendation. She explained that, under Article 5 chart 1 of the Bartlett zoning ordinance, secondhand retail uses require a special‑use permit. Alderman Rees noted a stipulation from the Planning Commission that 60% of product in the store must be new merchandise, not solely used items, and described examples such as golf clubs and bats that staff expect to be sold and resold through the business model.
The board voted to set the public hearing; the mayor told residents in the area that a hearing on Feb. 24 would allow the public time to comment.
