Alex told the board "the base bid amount for Cycle Construction is $1,183,342. We have about $950,000 in tidelands available for the project, so that leaves us a shortfall of about $233,000," and asked the board to approve the recommendation and allow staff to return with a formal budget amendment. The board approved the recommendation and the contingency authorizing signature upon fulfillment of contractor obligations.
Board members discussed funding options for the $233,000 local share, including board capital funds or general fund cash balances, and asked staff to bring a recommended budget amendment at the next meeting. The motion recorded stated the approval would reject the four add alternates and proceed with the base bid only.
The award is contingent on receipt of payment and performance bonds, proof of required insurance and final county approvals; staff said vendor quotes for add alternates would be obtained and returned to the board for the next meeting.
