The Cedar Falls City Council on Feb. 16 approved several infrastructure projects, adopted a local urban renewal ordinance on third consideration and advanced changes to public-consumption rules for special events.
North Cedar Heights reconstruction: After a staff presentation, the council adopted plans, specifications and the engineer’s estimate for the North Cedar Heights area reconstruction project, Phase 3. City staff said the work covers Picturesque Drive, Oakland Avenue (Grand Avenue to Park Drive) and part of Greenwood Avenue, and includes reconstruction of water main and storm sewers, installation of new subdrain, asphalt pavement with concrete curb and concrete intersections. The total estimated construction cost presented by staff was $2,155,598.47; staff said stage 1 and 2 are expected to be completed in 2026 and stage 3 in 2027. No members of the public offered comments during the hearing and the council approved the resolution adopting the plans by roll call.
