Wright County honors two long‑serving HHS supervisors on their retirements

The Wright County Board of Commissioners recognized two Health and Human Services employees who are retiring after long tenures with the county.
Jessica Nelson introduced Terry Arvig, who began in 2004 and over 21 years worked in licensing, financial services, chemical dependency and mental health programs and most recently on coordinated access. Nelson said Arvig worked through the agency’s transition from paper files to electronic systems and praised her cross‑program knowledge.
Jill Pooler introduced Veil Ann Thamel, who the presenter said has served for more than 38 years in adult mental health work and as a supervisor of waiver and community service supports. Pooler and colleagues praised Thamel’s public presentations, institutional knowledge and personal touches such as baking for staff celebrations. Thamel spoke to the board about early county technology and said she enjoyed her work: “I loved it.”
The board thanked both employees for their service and presented tokens of appreciation. No board action was required for the recognitions.
