Commissioners approve subdivision, two conditional‑use permits and routine business

The Keith County Board of Commissioners approved a series of routine and land‑use actions during its regular meeting, voting to accept previous meeting minutes and claims and to authorize several zoning actions recommended by the Planning Commission.

The board voted to approve a final minor subdivision requested by Mark Fleming that splits an existing 10.61‑acre parcel into a 3.24‑acre lot and a 7.37‑acre lot, following a Planning Commission recommendation. Motion by Schroeder, second by Irvin; roll‑call votes were recorded in the affirmative.

The board also approved conditional‑use permit 25‑7 for Diane Peterson to build a replacement home on a quarter section near 275 Road West 20, with the Planning Commission’s recommended condition that the project be completed within 18 months (motion by Anderson, second by Schroeder). Leslie Peterson, a family member, told the board the new home will be about 1,500 square feet and the existing structure will be torn down after occupancy.

A separate conditional‑use permit (25‑8) for John and Stephanie Walsh to add a second accessory building on their rural residential lot in Keystone was approved after staff confirmed the lot met the two‑acre requirement and the Planning Commission recommended approval.

On procedural matters, the board approved the meeting agenda, accepted the minutes of the previous meeting and authorized payment of claims. The clerk’s request to declare a Sharp copier (MX‑M356N, serial MXSCX1) surplus and transfer it to board inventory was also approved.

Each of the land‑use items was reviewed publicly and had been heard by the Planning Commission on Nov. 6 prior to the board’s vote.

The board adjourned after additional administrative discussion and reports.
