Council reads commendations honoring local first responders and longtime employee
Summary
Council read several commendations honoring Lieutenant Hunter Gerasick (Firefighter of the Year), Officer Christopher Manaschee (Police Officer of the Year), auxiliary officer Larry Longstreth (Community First Policing Award) and employee Lisa Starkey (Employee of the Year).
At the meeting the presiding official read multiple commendations recognizing service to the village.
The council read Commendation No. 2026-22 honoring Lieutenant Hunter Gerasick as the Fairport Harbor Fire Department’s 2025 Firefighter of the Year, noting he was selected by his peers for leadership, mentoring and dedication. The council also read Commendation No. 2026-23 honoring Officer Christopher Manaschee as the 2025 Fairport Harbor Police Department Officer of the Year for his performance since joining the department in 2022.
Additional recognitions included Commendation No. 2026-24 for auxiliary officer Larry Longstreth, recipient of the 2025 Community First Policing Award for work on senior welfare checks and community outreach, and Commendation No. 2026.25 honoring Lisa Starkey as the village’s 2025 Employee of the Year in recognition of 25 years of administrative service.
The readings were ceremonial; no formal council vote was required to present the commendations.
