The Fairport Harbor Village Council on Feb. 18 scheduled a special meeting for 6:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at Village Hall to consider bids for New 4th Street, urban forestry contracts and amended appropriations.
Council moved on several routine procedural items. A motion to excuse three absent members (Mr. McKinney, Ms. Shaver and Mr. Lyons) was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. Council also moved to approve the Jan. 20 regular meeting minutes; that motion carried. Later the council voted to excuse the village engineer (Allen) from the session.
Christine, the village fiscal officer, reported that the financial statements were not ready because the village accounting system (UAN) must produce the state financial report due in February. “The financials, unfortunately, are not ready just yet,” Christine said, noting the timing requirement from the state.
The administrator, Lucas, highlighted administrative items tied to upcoming procurement and planning: the Walter Drain Company completed the codification for 2024–2025 and the online code has been updated; an RFP for Urban Forestry Planning and Consulting is live with proposals due Feb. 23; Verdantus will hold a public engagement session for the comprehensive plan on April 7.
Next steps: the special meeting on Feb. 24 will consider bids and amended appropriations as outlined by the administrator; the council will take formal votes at that meeting.
