Clerk Treasurer Arthune presented the City of La Porte’s annual 2025 investment report at the Feb. 17 meeting, reporting increased interest income across several accounts and funds.
Arthune said the city earned $145,888.63 for seven funds invested in the state Hoosier Fund and that checking‑account interest across 21 accounts totaled $1,612,309.51 for 2025. She compared that to 2024 checking‑account interest of $676,381.47, saying the increase year‑over‑year was $935,928.04. Arthune described the Hoosier Fund as a state‑allowed money‑market vehicle for units of government (Indiana Code §36‑1‑7) and noted the city has used it for about 11 years. She also summarized yields on other accounts and said the RDA sinking reserve and operating funds earned $55,643.16 at the bond trustee.
Arthune said these figures are informational and require no council action. Council members thanked Arthune and the finance staff for their work and for relationships with local banks that improved yields.
