County staff announced a public information session and several administrative matters during the meeting.
Christie read a public notice from Rumpke stating the Athens/Hocking landfill operator submitted a permit application for lateral and vertical expansion of a solid-waste disposal unit at 17970 Diamond Brick Road in Nelsonville. A public information session is scheduled for Feb. 16, 2026; the notice included a contact phone number for Rumpke.
The board also announced a community meeting hosted by Partnering for Strong Families on April 8, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Logan Hocking Public Library, 230 E. Main St., Logan.
Before adjourning to closed session, commissioners said they would hold two executive sessions: one concerning confidential economic-development business and a second personnel executive session expected to include Andre Rovers, superintendent Kim Meehan, Kirsten Waddell and Michelle Lyons. A motion to enter executive session was made, seconded and approved by roll call.
No further public business was expected after the executive sessions; commissioners said notices would be made following those sessions.
