Council approves 2026 long-range planning work program for community development

Stacy Henderson, planning manager, presented the City of Ellensburg’s 2026 Community Development long-range planning work program and requested council approval.
Henderson said the 2026 program centers on the periodic update and two rounds of code updates (a June round for required state and cleanup items and a December round to align regulations with the updated comprehensive plan). Staff also plans a manufactured-home-park code review, to codify an official zoning-map adoption process, and to track carryover items from prior years.
Council asked clarifying questions about a citizen request for transferable open-space rights and about whether a gap analysis would be done to align the zoning map with the future land-use map. Dan Carlson, community development director, confirmed the transferable-open-space item was a citizen request and that staff can perform GIS analysis to check consistency between zoning and land-use designations.
Council moved, seconded and approved the 2026 work program by voice vote.
