Assumption Parish jury approves immediate terminations after executive session

After a closed executive session called to discuss personnel, the Assumption Parish Police Jury on Feb. 20 approved recommendations from human resources to terminate several employees for verified violations of the personnel manual.

Human resources presented findings recommending immediate termination of positions described in open session as: lead man (drainage), operator I, operator III, and maintenance workers assigned to the community center and agricultural complex. The HR representative said the changes were "based on violations of the personnel manual as verified and identified." The jury approved the recommendation by voice vote.

To maintain weekend operations at parish facilities pending longer‑term staffing decisions, jurors authorized temporary payment of actual time worked rather than accrual of comp time for interested employees.

The jury recorded the motion in open session; no detailed personnel files or employee names were discussed in open session per law. Jurors instructed department heads to collect keys and district property and directed an administrative follow up on access to parish vehicles and equipment.
