Atlanta City Council issues proclamations honoring local leaders, historic team and Arbor Day

Councilmember Byron D. Amos presented a proclamation recognizing the 1962 Simpson Road Trojans, the first all-Black Little League team from the area to win regional playoffs; several former players, the coach Larry Morrow, and community members attended and recounted the team's history during segregation.
Matt Westmoreland, chair of the Community Development Human Services Committee, presented a proclamation recognizing Georgia Arbor Day and highlighted recent updates to the city's tree protection ordinance and a city tree-canopy assessment; Trees Atlanta and Parks Department staff urged residents to sign up for free street-tree plantings and described forthcoming street-tree inventory and urban forest planning work.
The proclamations were accompanied by receptions and short videos; no formal votes were required for the ceremonial items.
