PBS Kansas asks committee for specialty license plate to bolster local programming
Representatives and PBS Kansas leaders told the Transportation Committee that a PBS Kansas specialty license plate could help close a funding gap after federal cuts; the committee took testimony and closed the hearing without a vote.

The committee heard HB2553, which would create a PBS Kansas distinctive license plate with an annual logo‑use royalty set by the Kansas Public Telecommunications Service. Committee staff said the fund would be created to receive royalty payments, and issuance would begin after a guaranteed initial order and design‑cost payment requirements are met.
