During the session the Kansas Senate paused for ceremonial recognitions and announcements. Senators recognized February as American Heart Month and Legislative Wear Red Day, highlighted by statistics on out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and calls for wider CPR and AED training. One senator named cardiac-arrest survivors in the gallery and asked the chamber to welcome them.
