Committee approves consideration to reclassify two HHS supervisor roles to behavioral health supervisors

The St. Croix County Administration Committee voted to advance a request to reclassify two Health & Human Services (HHS) supervisor positions to Behavioral Health Supervisor titles following consolidation of behavioral health and Comprehensive Community Services under a single administrator.

Staff said reclassification promotes consistency in the unified department. Placement at Behavioral Health Supervisor 1 was described as cost-neutral; movement to a Behavioral Health Supervisor 2 would be credential-driven and require a master’s degree and clinical licensure.

Supervisor Counter asked whether current staff could be trained into the new roles or whether external hires would be required. Staff and the new Behavioral Health Department Administrator Rebecca Kerr said on-the-job training and administrative oversight would support credentialing and clinical supervision pathways, noting roughly 1,500 hours are required for the clinical license the Supervisor 2 level would require.

Supervisor Counter moved to consider the reclassification request; Long seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
