Council authorizes Peters Road contract amendment; transcript shows differing change-order figures

City staff presented the item and said staff recommends approval of a change order with Ellison Mills Contracting (also referenced as Allison Mills in the presentation) “in an amount not to exceed $748,195” to finish the Peters Road widening work between Thornton Road and Burris Road. Staff said the funds are available in this year’s budget and that, if approved, the project should be completed by April.
When the formal resolution text was read, it described approving Amendment No. 1 to the city’s contract with Ellison Mills Contracting LLC and authorized “expenditure of additional public funds in an amount not to exceed $7,748,194.13.” The transcript therefore contains both the staff-stated change-order figure of $748,195 and the resolution language that references $7,748,194.13.
A council member moved to approve Resolution No. 5793.1 and the motion was seconded. A roll-call vote recorded affirmative votes from council members and the motion carried.
The amendment covers work needed after utility and irrigation-district requirements were finalized late in design; staff said the change order will provide contingency funds necessary to finish the north-side widening and that remaining contingency allowance exists for the remainder of the project. Staff characterized this as an amendment to the existing contract and not a new procurement.
The council approved the resolution and staff may proceed to execute the contract amendment and apply the authorized funds toward completion of the Peters Road widening project.
