Charlotte County commissioners unanimously moved on June 10 to transmit two large‑scale comprehensive plan amendments to the Florida Department of Commerce and other state review agencies. The petitions would change the future land‑use designation of two agricultural parcels to "mineral resource extraction" to formalize and expand existing and proposed sand/mining operations.
