Marathon County adopts Town of Day zoning code after planning commission presentation

The Marathon County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Resolution 8-26 on Feb. 19 to adopt the Town of Day's zoning code, completing the county-level step for the town's land-use regulations.

Brian Dillinger, chair of the Town of Day planning commission, told the board the commission began meeting in August 2024 and worked through roughly 30 meetings to update a comprehensive plan last revised in 2006 and to draft a zoning code and map. "We were tasked by the town board with updating our comprehensive plan...and also to develop our town zoning code," Dillinger said, outlining a process that included consultant support from the North Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission, attorney review completed in September 2025 and public hearings in July and October 2025. Dillinger said the commission unanimously recommended approval and that the code was presented to the county's Environmental Resources Committee on Feb. 3, which approved it unanimously.

Supervisor Drabek moved to adopt the resolution and Supervisor Mask seconded. The board recorded no discussion on the floor and the vote carried unanimously.

Dillinger concluded by saying he would remain available to answer questions from the board. The resolution grants the county-level approval step required under state and county procedures; the transcript did not specify additional ministerial steps beyond the board action.
