Ferguson Board repeals 2008 phlebotomy resolution, authorizes updated service agreement

The board held a public hearing June 3 and voted to repeal a 2008 phlebotomy-services resolution and authorize the township manager to execute a new service agreement allowing an updated medical provider agreement for phlebotomist services (blood alcohol collection).
Manager explained the prior resolution (2008-17) identified a medical provider and a $35/hour fee; the proposed resolution increases the fee to $55/hour and authorizes the manager, with solicitor review, to execute an agreement with a selected medical provider. The manager said Mountain/ Mount Nittany Medical services are likely to be retained based on their competitive quote.
A resident asked whether taxpayers pay the fee; the manager confirmed a PennDOT Highway Safety grant currently offsets those costs 100%. Supervisor Patterson moved to repeal and replace the resolution, Heller seconded; roll-call vote was unanimous in favor and the resolution passed.
