The Nye County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Nov. 7 to approve special use permit ETSU-2414, a corrective application adding a parcel to an existing above-ground transmission project (Gridlines West LLC).
Director Wagner told the board the SUP is identical to two prior approvals and was requested because one parcel had been inadvertently left off earlier paperwork. Applicant representatives said they did not intend to surprise the board; the applicant initially asked staff to note a $5,000,000 special-use permit offset fee in the memorandum of final action but, after discussion, retracted that request and asked the board to proceed with the standard SUP documentation.
Scott Whittemore and Bob Sweetin, representing the applicant, thanked staff and commissioners for the expedited process and explained that the corrected paperwork will be filed and payments made in accordance with the development agreement.
The board approved the SUP as presented, with Commissioners noting prior extensive public meetings and staff work on the project.
