Sutter County board adopts resolution closing out $354,639 CDBG coronavirus grants

The Sutter County Board of Supervisors held a public hearing and adopted a resolution closing out Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) coronavirus rounds 2 and 3 during its June 10 meeting.
Health and Human Services Director Sarah Eberhard Rios told the board that the department was awarded up to $354,639 from the State Department of Housing and Community Development for the grant period 02/02/2022 through 10/31/2024. Using those funds, the county partnered with the Fried Center for Independent Living and the Area 4 Agency on Aging to expand food access for income-eligible older adults and individuals living with disabilities during the pandemic via a Dine at Home meal-voucher program.
Rios reported program outcomes: 156 individuals were served (131 seniors), 100% of participants were living with disabilities in the served cohort, 86% were in extremely-low or low-income categories, 16,327 meals were provided at an average cost of $13.36 per meal, and total program costs were $218,129 covered by the CDBG funding. The director noted there was no impact to the county general fund for this program.
Supervisor Ziegenmeier moved to approve the closeout resolution; the motion was seconded and passed on a roll-call vote with all supervisors voting aye. The board closed the public hearing with no public comment.
Next steps: adoption of the resolution completes the formal closeout requirement for the grant, and staff indicated no outstanding funds remain to be distributed under these grant rounds.
