Wheat Ridge — City staff on Feb. 23 presented a preliminary plan to use voter-approved 2J bond funds to fill sidewalk gaps, propose pedestrian safety investments and coordinate drainage work, while seeking council direction to advance a first phase of projects in 2026–27.
City Manager Goff and staff reminded council that voters authorized up to $75 million in bond authority for critical infrastructure including sidewalks, bike lanes and drainage, and that staff hopes to leverage grant funding to bring the portfolio to nearly $94 million. Staff said roughly $42 million is currently earmarked for sidewalk and bike projects, about $12 million was initially targeted for drainage, and that the first-phase preliminary cost estimate for six priority segments is about $11.9 million.
