Why it matters: acceptance of a petition for hearing starts the formal public process but does not signal approval of annexation or project specifics; the public hearing will allow residents to comment and the board to later decide on the annexation after further review, negotiations and potential conditions.
Trustee discussion touched on parcel boundaries and county jurisdictional patches along County Road 317; staff said the proposed annexation will fill a gap to the nearest municipal boundary and that additional coordination with Chaffee County on road jurisdiction and infrastructure responsibilities will follow if the annexation proceeds. Trustees voted in favor of the resolution accepting the petition and setting the hearing date.
