Summary
Representatives from Pioneer Valley Little League presented a Little League International charter plan and asked to coordinate with city parks and recreation; the city will forward information to the recreation director for scheduling and field assessment.
Representatives of Pioneer Valley Little League told the Santaquin City Council on Feb. 17 that the organization has obtained a Little League International charter and plans to field teams for ages 9–12 that could compete regionally and internationally through Little League’s tournament structure.
The league representative (speaker 7) said the goal is at least four boys’ teams and four girls’ teams in the 9–12 age group, and that Little League International provides national insurance, background checks and safety standards. He said the league has already coordinated with minor‑league clubs to assess fields and that volunteers and coaches will be subject to background checks.
Mayor and staff thanked the group and asked them to forward registration and field‑use details to city staff. Speaker 5 (city staff) said he would route the information to the recreation director to work on scheduling and field availability. The group and council emphasized they do not intend to compete with existing city leagues and will schedule around city programming where possible.
Council took no action at the meeting beyond referral to staff for coordination.
