Public commenters urge clarity on council attorney conflicts and call for more evening hearings

Stephanie Dwyer said she had provided supporting news articles and a letter that, in her view, showed a conflict involving a council attorney and criticized a board member for distributing materials directly to neighborhood leaders instead of using the city’s neighborhood‑empowerment channels. "I sent you all the supporting information as to why it would be a conflict," she said.
Another commenter and several commissioners urged better meeting timing to boost public attendance, suggesting at least one meeting each month be scheduled after regular work hours so working residents can participate. Commissioners agreed staff would gather the public submissions and that the two public comments on the record would be included for committee review.
The commission did not act on any policy as a result of the public comments; members used the remarks to inform follow-up tasks (distribution of submitted materials and a request for staff to consider additional outreach and scheduling options).
