Board approves capital projects, architectural services and routine consent items

The Springfield R‑XII Board of Education approved several governance and capital items at Monday’s meeting.

Agenda and consent items: The board approved the meeting agenda (motion by Dr. Thomas Tate; second by Board Member Huff) and later approved the consent agenda (minutes, treasurer reports, personnel reports) on a verbal roll call reported as seven votes in favor.

Capital/operations approvals: The board heard from Executive Director of Operations Sean Dilday about a selective roof replacement for the Studio Alternative Center, which Dilday said exceeds $500,000 and will be treated as a 2025–26 capital project. Trustees approved the recommendation by verbal vote; the chair announced the motion passed with seven votes.

Facility planning: With leftover funds from the 2023 bond sale, staff recommended moving Bingham Elementary new construction forward with Paragon Architectural and a construction manager‑at‑risk (CMR) delivery. The board voted to approve the fee commitments as presented; the chair announced a unanimous vote in favor.

Other approvals: The board approved change orders and agreements as presented in item 7.01 and received routine superintendent updates. The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn passed with seven ayes.
