Town staff told the Board of Aldermen on Nov. 12 that work is underway on the 2nd Street project and that permits for two 17th Street projects are moving forward, but the town lacks the steady, larger contracts that typically attract competitive bids.
The town manager and public works lead Joel Taylor urged a two-track approach: continue planning larger repaving projects while increasing routine maintenance such as crack sealing and targeted patching to prevent rapid pavement deterioration.
