Committee backs adding water-quality language and membership preference as WRMC consolidation is considered

Committee members voted to insert water-quality language into SWA’s powers, objectives and duties and to recommend membership language that prefers a member with conservancy interests if committees are combined.

Speaker 6 moved to add explicit water-quality language to SWA’s objectives; the motion was seconded on the record and carried. On the consolidation question, the committee debated precise wording to express a preference—rather than an absolute requirement—for an appointee with conservancy interests or a member recommended by the CLC (Conservancy Lands Commission) if Parks and CLC responsibilities are combined.
