Board hears elementary and high-school reports on enrollment, summer programs and facilities

School leaders updated the board on enrollment, summer plans and facility work.

Principal (S4) told trustees that elementary enrollment remained about 350 for June and that master schedules and a summer maintenance checklist were in the packet for board review. "Summer's a great time because, really, there's not many people there, and so we just kinda have free reign to go around and look," the Principal said, inviting trustees to tour facilities during the break.

The Principal described a three-day professional-development sequence (science, literacy, math) delivered with support from the Bailey Group through the district education cooperative; teachers will work on pacing guides aligned to state essential standards.

The Principal also announced a two-day kindergarten camp for registered incoming kindergartners and a summer book bus service beginning July 10 that will distribute free books and popsicles at planned stops around town.

An administrator (S5) reported the district's total enrollment after rollover was 280, up 12 students from the same point last year, and highlighted recent extracurricular and safety investments, including newly installed exterior cameras that staff are fine-tuning.

Trustees discussed facility warranty records and recent hail-related repairs to roofs, the gym, and concession areas; staff agreed to gather warranty documentation and contact vendors and the architect to ensure needed repairs are covered. The board noted a broken seal in classroom glass and plans to check warranty coverage or schedule repairs.
