The Pipestone Area School District voted to authorize administration to initiate a strategic planning process using remaining funds from the Closing the Educational Opportunity Gap grant and approved a general fund budget amendment at Tuesday’s meeting.
Staff said the grant allocation includes a line to support strategic planning and described the recommended process and timelines. "This motion would just be to utilize those funds for finding a partner to the strategic plan," the chair summarized. Board members were told the funding would not affect local taxpayers because it comes from grant funds set aside for this purpose.
The board also reviewed year‑to‑date budget figures and accepted a budget amendment for the general fund; treasurer staff reported a cash balance of $8,054,000 and noted line‑item updates that left the revised projected deficit similar to previous estimates.
Next steps: staff will schedule finance committee work and bring more detailed draw and timeline information for the roofing project and strategic planning vendor selection back to the board.
