Two Rivers board adopts new mission, vision and values after community summit

The Two Rivers Public School District board on June 21 unanimously approved new mission, vision and values that district leaders said were shaped by a recent community summit and subsequent workgroups.
District staff described a multi-step process that engaged about 70 stakeholders — students, parents, staff, board members and community partners — who contributed ideas in small groups and exit tickets. The approved vision reads in part: "We include, we inspire, we innovate, we impact — We are TR." The new mission states: "Empower every individual to learn and thrive in a dynamic world by building community, champion diversity, and leading for positive change." The board approved four values — Collaborate, Own, Lead, Engage — that staff said will be integrated into school- and district-level branding and the existing Raider Way programs.
Board members and staff described the outcome as the product of two full days of stakeholder work followed by a smaller drafting team. Diane, who led the presentation, said the team distilled comments from large charts and exit tickets into six stakeholder statements and then condensed those into the current vision and mission. Diane told the board the process produced both an "internal working document" with goals and activities and a separate "forward-facing" eight-page strategic summary for the public.
Board members asked about branding, timeline and connection to existing school-level values. One board member urged a follow-up summit near the two-year mark to prevent the plan from becoming static. Diane said five staff will receive Title IX training related to policy adoption and that the district will circulate final documents to community partners this fall or winter.
The vote to adopt the statements was made after a motion, and the chair announced the motion carries. The district said it will next prepare the internal work plan that outlines goals, objectives and responsibilities tied to the approved statements.
