At its Feb. 24 meeting the Mount Pleasant City Council approved several measures and set follow‑up items:
- Parameters resolution (Resolution 26‑2): Council adopted a parameter resolution authorizing the issuance of street‑improvement revenue bonds and called a public hearing to receive public input on the project and any potential private‑sector impacts. Council asked staff to provide a map or a shortened roads list in advance of the hearing so residents know which streets would be affected.
- Ordinance delegating fireworks authority (Ordinance 26‑5): Council delegated authority to the fire chief to implement state fireworks restrictions within city limits so the chief can respond quickly when state rules change.
- Alcohol permit for fundraiser: Council approved an alcohol sales permit for a corn‑hole tournament fundraiser benefiting the Veterans Memorial, scheduled for May 9, with police presence and responsible‑service controls discussed.
- Two requisitions: Council approved Requisition 022605 for sewer inspections ($47,232) and Requisition 202606 for July 4 inflatables ($8,000).
Each action carried on a council motion and second. For the bond resolution, staff and council discussed term and rate parameters (form language discussed) and emphasized the need to publish which streets are included in the project before the public hearing.
