Hall County approves $24,750 engineering plan for undersized box culvert on Abbott/Weisman Road

The Hall County Board approved an engineering proposal to address an undersized box culvert on Abbott Road near Weisman (Wiseman) Bridal.
A commissioner reported the upstream culvert is a triple 6-by-10 pipe while a downstream 18-foot box is overtopping the road; he said Space Engineering provided a quote of $24,750 to design the project so bids can be issued this fall. Commissioners noted contractors are seeking winter work and that moving forward this season could keep the project within the current budget.
“ If we go with them, we can get it designed and go out for bids yet this fall,” the commissioner said.
A motion to approve the engineering proposal for project 340 (5551) on Wiseman Bridal for a total of $24,750 was made and seconded; the board voted (5 yes) and the motion carried.
The board directed staff to proceed with design and prepare to solicit bids, with the goal of completing design and contracting within the county’s current road budget.
