Council names three to Finance & Budget Committee, stressing transparency

Pflugerville’s City Council appointed three residents to its Finance & Budget (FAB) Committee on Feb. 10 after interviewing five applicants for three vacancies.
The council heard short statements from each candidate about why they sought service on FAB. AK Brewer said she wanted to help residents understand “where my tax dollars are going” and emphasized guiding citizens to public financial documents. “If they have a question, let’s answer them,” Brewer said during her remarks.
Carla Carroll described decades of accounting experience and professional education in public administration and project controls, saying she wanted to contribute financial skills. Scott Stieferman and Jonathan Reich both highlighted experience with data presentation and outreach; Reich said making the city’s budget “more accessible” to residents motivated his application. A late‑arriving applicant identified himself as Ronald and described a public‑sector auditing background and past work creating an internal audit function for Travis County.
Councilmembers discussed eligibility and voter‑registration concerns for one applicant and ultimately appointed AK Brewer and Jonathan Reich initially, then moved to add Ronald to fill the third vacancy. Council recorded the appointments as unanimous among those present.
Staff noted three vacancies on FAB with terms ending in 2026 and said the committee will help provide citizen review and oversight of the city budget.
