Board approves master facilities design development and contractor GMPs; modular classrooms to arrive soon

Administration presented the contractor’s cost estimates for the design development documents: an estimated $14,218,185 for the elementary project (including CMR fees and alternates) and $38,448,616 for the middle/high school project. After questions from board members and brief remarks from the architect and construction manager, the resolution to advance design development passed by recorded vote (5–0).
The board also approved several guaranteed maximum price (GMP) items for temporary classroom facilities at both sites and approved modular unit lease agreements for the temporary classrooms. Board members were told modular units would begin staging on site immediately and that delivery was estimated for mid‑September; students are not expected to move into temporary classrooms until after winter break.
Board members praised the leadership of the architects and administration on coordinating the complex bids and alternates. The board asked administration to provide a clearer phase and relocation schedule for parents; staff said more detailed phasing information would be released once final GMPs are executed and logistics are confirmed.
Next steps: Conner Construction and the design team will finalize GMP documents for the temporary classroom installations, coordinate modular delivery and staging, and bring periodic project updates to the board.
