Valley View Local board approves 2024–25 appropriations, tuition rate, contracts and $40,000 stadium donation

At its Aug. 12 meeting, the Valley View Local Board of Education adopted permanent appropriations for fiscal year 2024–25 and approved a slate of routine financial and contract items, trustees said.
Superintendent Valerie Hovoldt explained the district moved from temporary to permanent appropriations as required by law and that the permanent totals had not materially changed from the temporary budget except for adjustments to grant-line items. "When we started out the year, in June, we passed temporary appropriations... Now at the September 30, we are required to submit permanent appropriations," Hovoldt said.
The board also set the district tuition rate for the 2024–25 school year at $8,868.14. Chair moved the tuition-rate motion and it was approved by roll call.
Other approved items included so-called 'then and now' certifications for several vendors (listed in meeting materials as Beyond Consulting, Liminex, Colquine Lanes, and Joseph Curran), routine personnel actions presented in the packet, and a contract with Applied Behavioral Services. The board approved a quote/contract with the Warren County Educational Service Center for services the district determined appropriate for certain students.
Chair announced the board accepted a $40,000 donation from the Valley View Athletic Boosters "toward the stadium lights," and trustees thanked the boosters for the contribution.
The board also adopted a resolution to declare transportation "impractical" for certain charter-school students "pursuant to Ohio revised code 33 27," which the superintendent said allows the district to offer parents a payment in lieu of transportation for those students.
Votes at a glance (as recorded in the meeting): all listed motions were moved, seconded and approved by roll call during the meeting.
The board reviewed FFA trip requests (national and state events) and approved them as part of the consent agenda and completed several other routine approvals before adjourning.
