Meridian board recognizes MP3 staff and hears EdTech TOSA presentation

The Meridian School District board opened its Sept. 11 meeting with recognition of the staff who run the MP3 campus and a presentation on classroom-focused technology integration.

Michelle, who identified herself as principal at MP3, described the program’s hybrid schedule, individualized student learning plans and the work of six Student Learning Plan Certified (SLPC) teachers that serve 208 enrolled students and families across 26 districts. She said the team meets weekly, conducts monthly reviews that align to state standards, and will start a parent workshop on Oct. 1 to help families navigate curriculum selection and learning plans.

Cynthia Richards and Rebecca Krapcic, teachers on special assignment for educational-technology integration, told the board their roles focus on instruction rather than device support. They described a district tech handbook, digital‑citizenship lessons and tools used for formative assessment, including Formative and iReady, which teachers use to identify gaps and tailor small‑group instruction.

Cynthia described accessibility features the district is using and how technology supports multilingual learners and students who need read‑aloud options. She said the team is encouraging staff to use AI as an instructional aid but noted district policy on AI is still in development.

District leaders emphasized the TOSA role’s instructional emphasis and weekly coordination across buildings to promote consistent practices. Board members praised staff for translating technology purchases into classroom gains and for building teacher capacity.

The presentation closed with board members and students commending MP3 staff for relationship building, individualized planning and creative scheduling that helps families access campus-based offerings.

The board moved on to other agenda items after hearing questions about open‑house scheduling and program capacity.
