Assumption Parish appoints Tawania Tyler as special program director and updates signing authority

The Assumption Parish Police Jury approved the appointment of Tawania Tyler as special program director and granted her bank and program-signing authority.

Chair presented the appointment and a motion to set the position at pay grade 10, step 13, with an annual pay of $57,500. The Chair announced the motion was on the floor (mover: Mr. Alcorn; second: Mr. Carter) and the jury voted in favor. Following Tyler’s appointment, the jury voted to remove Mercedes Bernard from signing authority and to grant Tyler authority to sign for Capital One Bank accounts as well as Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) and LAHEEP documents. The motion to change signing authority (mover: Mr. Diaz; second: Mr. Nakia) passed.

Why it matters: Shifting program authority and bank-signing privileges centralizes administrative control for certain grants and programs under the newly appointed program director, which affects who can legally sign grant and program documents.
