Levy County commissioners approved a $204,000 task assignment with engineering firm Dewberry to update the county's vulnerability assessment and adapt the county's adaptation plan.
Mary Ellen Harper told commissioners the $204,000 comes as a state grant to update assessment data and that the Department of Environmental Protection had offered additional money to add two municipalities—Fanning Springs and Inglis—to the project. "For tonight, I'm just asking you to approve the task assignment for the $204,000 to update just the Levy County vulnerability assessment," Harper said, and promised to return with paperwork for any scope expansion after the state confirms supplemental funds.
Commissioners voted in favor by voice; Harper said the adaptation-plan deadline extension and the updated assessment will use the most current data and that the county will return with a follow-up amendment if the state funds additional municipalities.
