Michelle Bishop of the city's Corridor Improvement Authority said the applicant — identified in meeting discussion as More Than Scrubs — met CIA requirements and requested a matching grant not to exceed $3,470.50, budgeted in the CIA fund. Bishop said the business previously operated online and now planned a brick-and-mortar opening at 26011 Coolidge Highway; the applicant plans to use the grant toward a lighted sign.
Council asked about storefront consistency along the shopping strip and whether owners bear responsibility for signage. Bishop said signs are generally the business owner's responsibility and that sign costs can range widely. Council voted to approve the matching grant; the motion carried on roll call.
