The Evanston City Council voted to authorize a professional-services agreement with Forsgren Associates Inc. for engineering design of the Evanston Pedestrian Sidewalk Improvement Project, part of a TAP (Transportation Alternatives Program) grant the city previously approved.
Mister Newsome explained the resolution covers engineering services to advance design and procurement, and said Forsgren previously completed a similar Safe Routes to School project for the city. "That was the one who did the safe routes to school ... so they definitely know what we have to do to get her done," Newsome said, describing Forsgren's prior work.
Newsome advised that, while design work will begin earlier, the physical construction phase is unlikely until about 2028. Council members praised the contract and agreed to proceed. Staff will return with schedule details and required grant deliverables as design advances.
