Residents report address-mapping errors that blocked internet setup and deliveries
Summary
Residents and council members said some mapping systems and ISPs have north/west coordinates switched for local addresses, causing delivery errors, internet-installation rejections and concerns about 911 location accuracy; the county directed residents to file a paper form to correct the record.

Several residents told the council they are having trouble with deliveries and internet service because of address-record inconsistencies between north/west coordinates in mapping systems and service providers.
Karen Caldwell said multiple residents have reported that their addresses are reversed in some systems, and one resident said an ISP (identified in the meeting as the company that handles his internet) would not provide service until the address record was corrected. "If he calls 911 on his phone, they're gonna send it to his old address because his new address does not match," a resident said during the discussion, prompting concern about emergency-location accuracy.
Mayor Shane Bacon said the county indicated a paper form is required to correct the official record. Council members agreed the city will provide residents with the county contact and update posted phone numbers so residents know where to take the form. Karen Caldwell and others offered to help residents complete the paperwork if needed.
Why it matters: incorrect address records can disrupt delivery of packages, delay the installation of broadband services, and โ in some circumstances โ affect emergency dispatch location. Council members urged residents to follow the county's procedure to rectify records and said the city will assist where possible.
No new ordinance or formal action was taken; the city will update posted contact information and help residents locate the county form.
