Board concurs with planning commission on cell‑tower variance, cannabis CUP and approves engineering RFP

The board reviewed planning‑commission recommendations from Feb. 25 and took three actions.

Planning staff (speaker 12) summarized that a proposed modification to an existing cell tower would increase the tower by 40 feet and add a 12‑foot lightning rod; because surrounding parcels are now residential, the tower modification requires a variance and conditions including appropriate lighting. The board concurred with the planning commission’s recommendation, subject to standard safety and lighting conditions.

The board also reviewed and concurred with a conditional‑use permit for cannabis cultivation and wholesale that had no opposition at planning commission; the applicant clarified there would be no on‑site manufacturing. Finally, the board approved publication of an RFP for engineering services to support retaining‑wall design and related work; the RFP will be open for questions and then for submittals over roughly a month before vendor selection.

Next steps: planning staff will coordinate the variance process, publish the engineering RFP and return procurement results to the board for contract approval.
