Earlier in the meeting commissioners discussed preparations for an upcoming eclipse and the county's running application for a state jail grant. A commissioner said the county had met with state consultants to walk through the jail grant application and that the state was considering awarding funds but no final decision had been announced.
Commissioners also noted logistical work and stakeholder outreach tied to both the eclipse and other upcoming events; they described remaining checklist items but expressed confidence that preparations were moving forward. The swearing-in concluded with informal photographs and brief remarks.
