Wayne County commission approves LMIG paving change order, multiple bids, budget amendment and website contract

At its March 2 meeting the Wayne County commission approved reallocating $104,965 in LMIG funds to pave a mile of Tire Road, accepted multiple bids (property sales, EMS windows, vehicles, tractors), adopted a resolution to amend the 2025 budget and awarded a contract to build a new county website to Revise.
The Wayne County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of procurement and budget items on March 2, voting to reallocate a surplus LMIG amount, accept several bids, approve facility and vehicle purchases, and amend the county’s 2025 budget.
Roads and paving: Staff reported a $104,965 surplus from a road project and GDOT approved repurposing the funds for resurfacing roughly a mile of Tire Road. The board moved and approved a change order to use the funds for the 2026 LMIG resurfacing work.
Bids and property: The commission opened bids and accepted a high bid of $12,222 from Chris and Cynthia Griffiths for a parcel on Oak Ridge Road and accepted a bid of $8,000 from Burley Ray III for a partial parcel at 215 Lindsay Street. The board set a minimum bid equal to outstanding taxes ($1,170.34) for a county‑owned parcel on Lark Road to start the sale process.
EMS and equipment purchases: The board accepted a local low bid of $13,750 to install seven egress‑sized windows in EMS sleeping quarters to meet fire‑code egress requirements. Road superintendent Kevin Grady recommended a tractor with loader and mower (John Deere) at a low bid of $71,388.08 from budgeted general‑fund dollars; the board approved that purchase. The commission also approved a locally sourced full bid for a Ford F‑350 crew cab flatbed (vendor Woody Folsom) and other vehicle procurements that were presented in meeting materials.
Budget and procurement: The board adopted a resolution to amend the 2025 budget after staff reported revenues exceeded prior estimates by $2,333,165.73 and expenses had decreased by just over $2,000,000. For county web services, staff recommended and the board approved selecting Revise as the vendor to replace a webhost that is going out of business.
Votes: For each of the formal procurement and budget motions the clerk recorded a motion, a second and a roll‑call series of affirmative votes by commissioners present; the meeting record shows the board approved the items during the March 2 session.
Next steps: Staff will proceed with contracting, advertising county property sales and processing site plans and permits where required.
