Dawsonville council amends agenda, approves consent items and enters executive session
Summary
Council amended the agenda to add long-term watershed monitoring, approved the consent agenda (including that item), recognized winter-storm response staff and then voted to enter executive session to discuss potential litigation, real estate acquisition and personnel.
At the start of the Feb. 16 work session, Council member Eells moved to amend the agenda to add item 7(b) for long-term watershed monitoring; Council member Kayla Phillips seconded and the mayor recorded the amendment as passed.
The council then approved the consent agenda, which included the Feb. 2, 2025 meeting minutes and the added long-term watershed monitoring item; the motion to approve came from Council member Sandy Sawyer and was seconded by Council member Phillips.
City Manager Jacob Evans recognized the winter-storm response crew from Public Works and Utilities for extended hours during storms Fern and Gianna and mentioned a five-year service recognition for Finance Director Robin Gazzaway. Evans also reported a leak adjustment tied to a school break that resulted in a $1,226.23 water adjustment and a $1,982.04 sewer adjustment, totaling $3,208.27.
Near the end of the meeting Mayor Walden said the council needed an executive session "for pending a potential litigation and real estate acquisition and or personnel." Council member Eells moved to enter executive session, seconded by Council member Phillips, and the mayor announced the council was entering executive session.
